Her personal story

Or was born in Ashdod on April 17, 2001, a first daughter to her loving parents.
She grew up in Ashdod, and attended the Makif Gimel Ashdod high school and graduated with honors.
When she was only in the 7th grade, Or decided that she would serve in a combat unit, and aspired to serve her country in that manner.
Or dreamed of traveling to Japan and around the world after her discharge, and later, after the "big trip", she planned to study medicine.

Her service in the security forces

Or enlisted to the IDF on November 27, 2019 and followed through on her childhood dream. She was assigned to a combat track as a rescue fighter in the Home Front Command.
Throughout her military service, Or maticulously fulfilled all her duties, juggling between training and operational activities. Thus, after being qualified as a platoon commander, she was appointed as a recrtuirs platoon commander, which she commanded for seven months.
Or's natural course in her military advancement was the officers' course, which she completed with honors in the 1st Battalion. Later, when she was a platoon commander in the Tabor regiment, she participated in dozens of arrests and border patrols. In July 2023, Or was assigned to the Zikim brigade training base as a commanding officer in a recruit company under the rescue and training division of the Home Front Command.
She planned to continue to develop in the military track and to be able to become a Company Commander before her discharge.

The circumstances of her fall

On October 7, 2023, a terrorist squad broke into the Zikim base. Or, along with the 14 staff members who were stationed at the base that day, provided shelter for the young recruits who had only been in the army for two months and evacuated them. Later on, the staff members manned the forward positions at the base to fight back against three squads of terrorists who entered the base from three different directions. They managed to block the terrorists with their bodies, while the terrorists were equipped with a variety of weapons. During the hard battle that lasted about an hour, Or and her colleagues saved the lives of 90 recruits and 30 headquarters soldiers and civilians who manned the base. Or's and her staff's determinned and relentless fighting, prevented the terrorists from advancing towards other cities and kibbutzim in the vicinity.

The soldiers who participated in the battle said that Or and the commanders conducted the fighting with exemplary bravery and dedication. Or's soldiers from the battalion introduced themselves as "Moses' proud soldiers" when they came to offer their condolences to her family in the "Shivah". One of the trainees' father told Or's mother that thanks to Or his daughter is alive. The brigade's rabbi, Omri Ayalon, who stayed at the base with his family to spend the Sabbath, told the family that through her bravery, Or protected many of the base's men and saved them.

Her character and personality

Or ("Light" in Hebrew), as her name suggests - lit up the lives of her surroundings with her beauty and intelligence and left a mark in all her pursuits.
One of Or's outstanding character traits was her courage. She knew no fear and that is how she ended her life - a warrior who fought bravely.

Her favorite things

Ashdod, Or's hometown, lost 36 of its sons and daughters during the Iron Swords War. One of the municipality's commemorative projects for the Fallen is called " A Taste of Nostalgia". Or's favorite recipe was a spicy potato stew. Below is the recipe she prepared and presented at the Ashdod restaurant project:

Ingredients:
5 medium potatoes, cubed
2 very ripe medium tomatoes cut into quarters
1 thin spicy green pepper
Spices: salt, sweet or hot paprika, less than a quarter of a teaspoon of turmeric
3 tablespoons of oil

Preparation:
Heat the oil in a pot, add the tomatoes and pepper and season. Cover the pot and cook for about ten minutes until the ingredients break into a sauce. Add the potatoes and cook over low heat until soften. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking to the bottom. Serve hot.
Bon Appetite, in memory of Or!

Her legacy and commemoration

Lieutenant Roni Mirom, who was Or's apprentice in the army, was chosen to fill Or's role after her fall. Or was a revered role model for Roni, and she used to constantly consult with her during her training. Roni said that Or always wanted to fulfill her tasks to the best of her ability. Roni sees herself as following her own path and the legacy of Or.
